Did you know?

"The average American drinks 100 gallons of soda, tea, and coffee each year" (Burnham & Phelan, 2000, p. 60).

That's equivalent to 1,600 cups a year or 4.38 cups per day.

Can you imagine drinking all of the water in this fish tank?  Well, this 72 X 18 X 19 inch tank holds 100 gallons of water.  Now that's something to think about.

Time:  7:42pm Sunday
You are confronted with a dilemma.

Option A. Work on that six page paper for ENGL 3007 describing the role of women during Shakespeare's era.  Its due Monday at 10:05am.  (You haven't even started)

Option B. Watch Ferris Bueller's Day Off (for the 5th time) with your buddies while munching on pizza, downing numerous cups of soda, and reciting the lines word for word.

Of course, the smart thing to do would be to start working on your paper.  You could probably finish the rough draft by midnight, pass out around one, and edit it in the morning.

Yes, this would be the smart thing to do...

You choose Option B.  You weren't that smart to begin with and, lets face it, all those frat parties you attended recently haven't helped much.

Time: 11:08pm Sunday
You are finally sitting down to work on the paper.  With any luck, you will manage to punch out something adequate before three.  You might even have time to proof read it.  You take a sip of your first cup of coffee.

Time:  2:27am Monday
Okay, so you got a little distracted by facebook.  No big deal.  You are back on task now and are 4 pages in.  Some of it even seems insightful.  You contemplate becoming an English major while drinking your third cup of coffee.

Time: 4:08am Monday
You slowly proof your paper, determine it is sufficient and hit the print button. You take the last swig of your energy drink and toss it into the recycling bin.

Time: 4:19am Monday
You finally crash in your bed, vowing never to procrastinate again.

New college freshman will be quick to tell you adjusting to college life is difficult.  You must learn to balance school, friends, dating, family, and work.  Often there are not enough hours in the day.  This leads to late nights and large amounts of caffeine.

Most college students consume caffeinated beverages every day with little thought.  This website is designed to inform you about caffeine and the many issues associated with caffeine consumption.  It will also tell you a little about how your genes impact your behavior and how this influences your caffeine intake.

Feel free to look around and happy drinking :)
